Option 01

Dental Implants

A titanium implant placed directly in the jaw replaces the root of the missing tooth. The closest thing to a natural tooth in form, function and longevity — and the only option that preserves the jawbone and prevents bone loss.

Option 02

Dental Bridges

A fixed ceramic bridge spans the gap, anchored to the neighbouring teeth on each side. No surgery required — typically completed in two appointments. A strong option when the adjacent teeth already need crowning.

Option 03

Dentures

Modern dentures — made using up-to-date materials and methods — restore missing teeth and facial support. Can also serve as an interim solution while waiting for an implant or bridge to be placed. Implant-retained options available for patients who need more stability.

Our Approach

We always try to save the tooth first.

Before discussing replacement, we will always assess whether the tooth can be saved and restored. Sometimes it can — with endodontic treatment, a crown, or a combination of both. We will be honest with you about the prognosis and never recommend extraction if saving the tooth is a realistic and worthwhile option.

When replacement is needed, we discuss all the alternatives with you — including the option of simply accepting the space if that is appropriate. We want you to make an informed decision, not feel rushed or pressured into a particular treatment.

Leaving a gap can cause the surrounding teeth to drift into the space over time, which affects your bite and can make future treatment more complex. The opposing tooth — the one that used to bite against the missing one — can also over-erupt into the gap. Bone loss in the jaw at the site of the missing tooth is another long-term consequence, particularly relevant if you are considering an implant later.
It depends on the location of the gap, the health of the neighbouring teeth, your bone levels, your general health and your personal preferences. We will assess all of these at your consultation and explain each option honestly — including its advantages, limitations and cost — so you can make an informed decision.
We always assess whether a tooth can be saved before recommending extraction. Sometimes it can — with root canal treatment, a crown, or both. We will give you an honest view of the tooth's prognosis and the likely long-term outcome of saving versus replacing it.
A dental implant most closely replicates the feel and function of a natural tooth — because it replaces the root as well as the crown. A fixed bridge feels close to natural but relies on the neighbouring teeth. A denture is removable and takes more adjustment, though modern dentures are significantly more comfortable than older patients may remember.
This varies considerably by treatment. A bridge can typically be completed in two to three appointments over a few weeks. A denture requires several appointments spread over a similar period. An implant involves a surgical phase followed by a healing period of several months before the final crown is fitted — though you will not be left without a tooth during this time..
