Reduce excessive sweating at Open Dental
This treatment helps to reduce excess sweating (or hyperhydrosis) of the underarms. Tiny amounts of Botulinium Toxin (we use the brand BOTOX®) are injected superficially in to the sweat glands.
Our SWEATOX, treatment as we call it, is relatively pain free and takes ten minutes to perform.
SWEATOX treatment will last from between 6-12 months.
The aim of the injections is to help our clients feel less self-conscious, reducing clothing stains and body odour caused by excessive sweating.
Treatment Times
Our SWEATOX treatment is quick and easy to administer. The results are not instantaneous and can take a few weeks to have an effect as there has to be a period of time to allow the botulinum toxin to work.
Dr May usually expects SWEATOX treatment to take up to 2 weeks to have a real effect. We will review you at that point and if necessary perform a top up.
Most treatments will last from 6-12 months before you notice underarm hyperhidrosis returning. We can then treat again if required.

2 Weeks — Full Effect & Review
Results are not immediate. Dr May expects the treatment to take up to 2 weeks to have its full effect. We will review you at this point and perform a top-up if necessary.

6–12 Months — Re-treat When Ready
Most SWEATOX treatments last between 6 and 12 months before underarm hyperhidrosis begins to return. When it does, we can treat again.

Hyperhidrosis is a condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what the body needs for temperature regulation. It most commonly affects the underarms, but can also occur on the hands, feet and face. It is more common than many people realise, and can significantly impact daily confidence and quality of life.
Tiny amounts of Botulinum Toxin (BOTOX®) are injected superficially into the sweat glands of the underarm. The Botulinum Toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signals that stimulate sweating in the treated area — producing a significant reduction in perspiration.
The procedure is relatively pain free. Very fine needles are used and the injections are superficial. Most patients find it very well tolerated. The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes in total.
