A chemical peel is a technique to allow new rejuvenated fresh skin to be uncovered by applying a chemical solution to your skin allowing it to naturally exfoliate and expose the new, healthy, undamaged layer.
We use several types of peel depending on the surface of your skin, whether there is acne scarring for instance or pigmentation such as melasma. Dr May will carry out a full assessment of your skin prior to recommending a type of treatment.
This is a perfect treatment if you are new to peels and perhaps have a big event coming up and want to look your best. As it states this is the “Lunchtime Peel” and is quick to administer.
We apply a solution of a combination of three exfoliating ingredients, salicylic, lactic and citric acid, to your skin to gently remove the superficial layer of skin and reveal a newer, fresher layer without blemishes. The peel also stimulates the skin cells to regenerate hence rejuvenating your skin.
You can return to work immediately and results will take up to two weeks to finalise so if you have a function to attend do consider these timings.
The three step peel is more suitable for you if you have any of the following:
The 3 Step Peel works by exfoliation and stimulating the cells in the deeper skin layers to improve the overall appearance of the skin.
Step 1 is the peel itself, which removes the outermost layer of skin. It is made up of salicylic, acetic and lactic acid, and also contains saponins to minimise inflammation and glycerin for hydration.
Step 2 is application of the Stimulating 6% Retinol Creme. Applied after the peel solution, the cream works to stimulate cellular function at a deep skin level. The results include collagen enhancement as well as firming and wrinkle reduction.
Step 3 is application of the Calming Creme Post Procedure Skin Relief. This cream works to minimise inflammation and irritation that may result from the first two steps, as well as restore the moisture balance of the skin. Dr May will give you the cream to take home as well as instructions on how to apply over the following days twice daily.
Dr May will give full aftercare instructions with explanations of what to expect but downtime is minimal and results are exceptional revealing brighter looking, fresher, rejuvenated skin.
