Tooth straightening using clear aligners is getting more popular due to how convenient this is. Invisalign is the method we use at Open Dental. We will assess your teeth and take impressions or moulds of your teeth that then go to our dental laboratory. The models are scanned and then the Invisalign Clear Aligners are constructed to allow your teeth to move from their current position to an agreed final position.
The aligners are changed every two weeks and this allows gentle forces to be applied to your teeth to start the transformation process. Depending on the movements required treatments will take from just a few months to 15 months.
Aligners are almost invisible and most people will not notice you wearing them. Aligners need to be removed when eating and we advise you wear them for at least 22 hours a day to minimise treatment times.
It is usual to complete a course of tooth straightening with a whitening treatment and some final contouring of teeth to perfect your smile. This may include additions of small amounts of composite bonded on to your tooth to provide our ever popular Minimally Invasive Smile Makeovers.
If you want straighter teeth but feel that conventional brackets and wires, even tooth coloured, will be unsightly, this is the treatment to consider.
